Iowa Deer Opener and Regulations 2022
Iowa Deer Season runs from September 17, 2022 - January 10th, 2023. Whether you are a seasoned hunter, or this is your first time, it’s always smart to make sure you have a plan and understand the hunting regulations for the year. This blog will provide you with several resources so that you have all the information you need!
Iowa Deer Seasons
Youth Season: September 17th - October 2nd, 2022
Archery Season, Early Split: October 1st - December 2nd, 2022
Archery Season, Late Split: December 19th, 2022 - January 10th, 2023
Early Muzzleloader (residents only): October 15th - 23rd, 2022
Late Muzzleloader: December 19th, 2022 - January 10th, 2023
Shotgun, Season 1: December 3rd - 7th, 2022
Shotgun, Season 2: December 10th - 18th, 2022
Nonresident Holiday Season: December 24th, 2022 - January 2nd, 2023
Shooting hours for all deer seasons are half-hour before sunrise to half-hour after sunset.
Regulations
Regulations for the 2022 seasons have not been released yet but we will update this blog once they have been.
Non-Resident Iowa Deer Hunting information can be found on the Iowa DNR website.
Hunters are required to report deer harvest either at iowadnr.gov or by calling the number printed on the harvest reporting tag.
